MUCK & MACRO
Muck diving is the art of finding extraordinary creatures hidden in sandy reef environments. The Sumbawa coastline is one of Indonesia’s finest muck diving regions, with over 150 nudibranch species, 11 species of octopus including mimic and wonderpus, weedy and paddleflap rhinopia, frogfish, and countless shrimp documented here.
Join us on a night dive to see the seabed crawl with life in this macro photographer’s paradise. Unlimited house reef dives are included in every diving package.
CURRENT
West Komodo and Gili Banta are two of Indonesia’s finest current diving destinations. Tidal currents funnel nutrients through the Sape Strait, attracting schools of fish, multiple shark species, manta rays, and seasonal blue whale sightings during their annual migration.
These currents maintain one of the healthiest marine environments on the planet. We dive the leeward side of these current-swept pinnacles, exploring rarely dived sites in search of spectacular marine life, with safe and rewarding conditions for divers of all levels.
CORALS
Coral diving is the perfect way to enjoy reef ecosystems full of life, with an endless variety of fish, turtles, stingrays, and more. Exploring sloping reefs, walls, and gentle bays along the Sumbawa coastline, the variety of dive sites means you can spend weeks at Kalimaya without ever having the same experience twice. Sites range from relaxed shallow reefs suitable for all levels to deeper walls and caverns for more experienced divers.

OUR DIVing courses
As a Scuba Schools International (SSI) Dive Centre, we offer a full range of courses. Whether you’re new to the hobby and want to try diving, or already a certified diver looking to upgrade your skills, we can help with your training and get you in the water enjoying everything from the Kalimaya house reef to West Komodo.
In this short introductory course, you will learn basic scuba diving skills and try scuba diving in open water. You will get to experience the thrill of open water diving up to 12 meters deep with an SSI Professional, without needing to earn a certification. It is the perfect way for children to try diving and start exploring the underwater world.
Who is this course best for?
Whoever wants to dip their toes into the world of diving without committing to a long course.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 2 to 4 hours
If you want to complete a short dive course on holiday and become a certified diver, the SSI Scuba Diver course is a great choice. You will learn all you need to become a confident and safe diver and get certified to dive down to 12 meters deep in open water with an SSI Professional. This is the perfect foundation course for budding scuba divers.

Families who are short on time but want to get certified to dive in open water with an SSI Professional.

Training duration: 10 – 16 hours
Are you ready to go diving anywhere you want with your family and truly explore the oceans? The SSI Open Water Diver course is your ticket to dive into the world’s most beautiful dive sites, meet incredible marine life and more. This course provides personalized training to ensure you have the skills you need to be fully comfortable underwater. You will learn at your own pace, have great fun, and get certified to dive down to 18 meters deep with your family of dive buddies.
Who is this SSI course best for?
Families who want to dive anywhere they want, with anyone they want, up to 18 meters deep.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 16 – 32 hours
If you have young kids who are nervous about being in the water or your family needs to boost their ocean confidence one step at a time, learn how to snorkel first. With the SSI Snorkel Diver course, your family will discover their inner mermaids and mermen, and learn all they need to go snorkelling anywhere in the world. It is a great course to take on your holiday, so you can snorkel over pretty coral reefs and meet rainbow-hued marine life with your little ones.
Who is this SSI course best for?
Families who want to enjoy the wonders of the ocean without needing to scuba dive.
Minimum age to enroll: None.
Training duration: 2 hours.
As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, shorten your surface intervals, and spend more time diving and less time waiting! In this program, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge whilst learning how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen.
You will earn an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification upon completion.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 3 to 6 hours
Dive down to 30 meters, experience night diving, perfect your buoyancy, learn how to navigate underwater, and develop your fish identification skills!
During the Advanced Adventurer Program, you will try out five diƯerent specialities. After a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor, you will complete one open water training dive per speciality.
