Reaching over 3 meters in length and weighing over 130kg, seeing the world’s largest lizard in the wild can be part of your next Indonesian adventure!
We offer an exclusive safari-style experience by boat, scanning the coastline with binoculars in search of these legendary dragons in their natural environment. Sightings can never be guaranteed, but the thrill of watching for them in the wild makes the experience truly unforgettable.

Kids activities
Everyone is welcome
We are excited to welcome everyone to Kalimaya Dive Resort for an amazing vacation, regardless of age. We take pride in offering a variety of services with your little (or maybe not so little) ones in mind.
Family bungalows
For families travelling together, Kalimaya has a solution to match your needs. Our Seaview Bungalows feature adjoining rooms with a shared balcony, to give you privacy while never being more than a few meters from your children. For larger groups, the Kalimaya Villa sleeps up to 8 guests across 3 king rooms and 2 oversized bunkbeds, with a private panoramic lounge overlooking Banta, Komodo, and Sangeang Volcano.
Extra bed
Children under the age of 12 are welcome to share their parents’ room (additional charges apply).
Food
Our chefs can prepare food for your little ones according to their tastes and desires, given they know in advance. Non-spicy food is no issue! Allergies, no issue! Special diet, no issue! Our chefs are used to preparing homemade balanced meals for all of our guests.
ACTIVITIES AT THE RESORT
Beach
Our 400-meter private beach is perfect for long strolls and shell hunting. For a little more physical activity, why not head out on a stand-up paddleboard or a kayak? We can provide you with life jackets.
Snorkelling
Ditch the tanks and enjoy the tranquillity of guided snorkelling over pristine sloping reefs. All of Kalimaya’s dive sites are equally spectacular for snorkellers, and while divers go deep, snorkellers enjoy the shallows with a wider field of view and often even greater marine encounters. With manta cleaning stations at just 5 meters deep, there is no limit to what you can see.

Swimming Pool
Our swimming pool is always a favourite for kids. The swimming pool has a long shallow edge on one side, and the rest of the pool has a depth of 1m45. We ask you to please always be present when your children are in the pool as we do not have lifeguards on duty.
Boardgames
All of us at Kalimaya enjoy a good old-fashioned board game! We have a wide selection located in the restaurant for the whole family to enjoy. If you would like to learn an Indonesian boardgame we also have Conklak which our staff will gladly take the time to teach and play with you.
Badminton & Volleyball
Ready for a game? Our team will be happy to set up a net for your family to enjoy a friendly game of volleyball, or Badminton for those wanting to play Indonesia’s National Sport!
Table Tennis
Enjoy a good game of Ping Pong on our regulation-size table located next to the Dive Center. Take on some of the staff for a fun game under the shade of our palm trees!
Learning about diving
In this short introductory course, you will learn basic scuba diving skills and try scuba diving in open water. You will get to experience the thrill of open water diving up to 12 meters deep with an SSI Professional, without needing to earn a certification. It is the perfect way for children to try diving and start exploring the underwater world.
Who is this course best for?
Whoever wants to dip their toes into the world of diving without committing to a long course.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 2 to 4 hours
If you want to complete a short dive course on holiday and become a certified diver, the SSI Scuba Diver course is a great choice. You will learn all you need to become a confident and safe diver and get certified to dive down to 12 meters deep in open water with an SSI Professional. This is the perfect foundation course for budding scuba divers.

Families who are short on time but want to get certified to dive in open water with an SSI Professional.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 10 – 16 hours
Are you ready to go diving anywhere you want with your family and truly explore the oceans? The SSI Open Water Diver course is your ticket to dive into the world’s most beautiful dive sites, meet incredible marine life and more. This course provides personalized training to ensure you have the skills you need to be fully comfortable underwater. You will learn at your own pace, have great fun, and get certified to dive down to 18 meters deep with your family of dive buddies.
Who is this SSI course best for?
Families who want to dive anywhere they want, with anyone they want, up to 18 meters deep.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 16 – 32 hours
If you have young kids who are nervous about being in the water or your family needs to boost their ocean confidence one step at a time, learn how to snorkel first. With the SSI Snorkel Diver course, your family will discover their inner mermaids and mermen, and learn all they need to go snorkelling anywhere in the world. It is a great course to take on your holiday, so you can snorkel over pretty coral reefs and meet rainbow-hued marine life with your little ones.
Who is this SSI course best for?
Families who want to enjoy the wonders of the ocean without needing to scuba dive.
Minimum age to enroll: None.
Training duration: 2 hours.
As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, shorten your surface intervals, and spend more time diving and less time waiting! In this program, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge whilst learning how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen.
You will earn an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification upon completion.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Training duration: 3 to 6 hours
Dive down to 30 meters, experience night diving, perfect your buoyancy, learn how to navigate underwater, and develop your fish identification skills!
During the Advanced Adventurer Program, you will try out five diƯerent specialities. After a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor, you will complete one open water training dive per speciality.
Minimum age to enroll: 10 years old
Prerequisite: Open Sea Diver
Joining the boat
As we are first and foremost a Dive Resort, our speedboats are equipped and designed for Divers. Should you like to have your non-diving children join a boat trip out to the islands, we ask that they be accompanied by an adult at all times.
We will provide life jackets for your children to wear on board. As the seas can get a little rough for the little ones, everyone is expected to be on their best behaviour while on board so that the captain and the crew can work safely.
Should you require a private boat for your family to see the Komodo dragons, we can also arrange this, making the day all so magical!
