About Kalimaya, Bima:
A Resort for Divers, By Divers

“WE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO FIND ONE OF THE LAST UNTOUCHED PLACES, ABOVE AND BELOW WATER, IN THE HEART OF INDONESIA.”

Our mission

Kalimaya exists to give divers and travellers access to one of the last truly remote corners of Indonesia. Whether you are chasing manta rays at Komodo, hunting nudibranchs on the house reef, or simply losing yourself in a sunset meditation poolside, we are here to help you find your happy place. A small resort, a dedicated team, and an extraordinary location. This is your sanctuary.

Our story

In 2015, six friends got together to realise their dream of conquering the frontiers of West Komodo, a pristine marine environment rarely visited, even by the most adventurous.

All three couples had one thing in common: their passion and enthusiasm for diving. The idea of a Resort for Divers By Divers was born.

Their challenge: to turn a desolate and remote strip of beachfront property – what was once nothing more than an abandoned onion field – into a sanctuary for unadulterated explorers who value experiential travel and acquaint these adventurers with the incredible biodiversity of the western side of Komodo National Park, Gili Banta and the Sumbawa coast.

After a site inspection, multiple snorkels, and dives around the reefs, the group of friends quickly realized they had found an area of supreme beauty, a true gem.
Kalimaya is the name of an opal only found in Indonesia and derives its name from two words: Kali meaning current & stream, and Maya meaning dreams & visions.
